Mike has been the Director of Safety and Health for SMACNA for over 5 years. He has over 25 years experience in the occupational safety and environmental health field, and is a Certified Safety Professional as well as an Associate in Risk Management.
A graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, he joined SMACNA after 12 years working as a senior project manager with a consulting firm where he completed numerous projects for various clients including the U.S. Air Force and Honeywell, Inc. He has also served as Director of Safety and Risk Management for George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia; and as a Safety Compliance Officer for the Virginia State OSHA Program.
Mike is a Past President of the National Capital Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and was selected as the chapter Safety Professional of the Year for 2003-2004. At the ASSE regional level, he has served as the Deputy Regional Vice President and he is involved with planning the annual ASSE Region 6 Professional Development Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He also volunteers his time as Chairman of the Loudoun Health Council for Loudoun County, Virginia.
In his “spare” time, Mike coaches youth soccer, football, and basketball, and personally enjoys golf and softball. He would like to thank his wife, Michelle, and his son, Brady, for their love and support.
