Joseph Lansdell
Poynter Sheet Metal

As President of Poynter Sheet Metal, Joseph Lansdell leads Indiana’s largest full-service sheet metal fabrication company with a vision grounded in innovation and professionalism. Starting his career as an apprentice, Joseph gained hands-on experience across nearly every department—from the shop floor and project management to sales and operations—before earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Business Administration. This combination of technical expertise and strategic insight has positioned him as a driving force behind Poynter’s continued growth.

Joseph’s leadership has been pivotal in expanding Poynter’s capabilities within the Specialty Metals division, where he champions advanced fabrication techniques and precision craftsmanship. Under his guidance, Poynter has invested in a new facility dedicated to specialty metals, enabling more collaboration with a diverse range of clients, including artists and architects.

A passionate advocate for continuous improvement, Joseph fosters a culture of innovation—empowering our architectural team to deliver creative, client-focused solutions that push the boundaries of design and fabrication.

Trent Todd
SMART Local Union 20

Trent Todd is responsible for the supervision and direction of ten Business Agents and three Organizers, which include the jurisdiction of the State of Indiana and portions of Kentucky, Illinois and Michigan. Todd is also the Chairman of the Committee which negotiates wages, hours and conditions of employment for approximately 4,500 members. He represents members in the enforcement of these agreements pertaining to wages, hours, conditions or employment and jurisdictional matters, making every effort to settle any controversial issues that arise in connection with, and in accordance to provisions of our Constitution and policies of our Association.

Matt Fairbanks
SMART Local Union 10

Matt Fairbanks serves as the Business Manager/President for SMART Sheet Metal Workers’ Local #10, a position he has held since his election in 2018.

Fairbanks began his leadership journey within the union ranks when he was first elected as a Business Agent in 2009. His tenure as President oversees a large regional jurisdiction covering over 300 signatory contractors across Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Under Local #10’s representation, members annually log over 5 million working hours, with a significant 800,000 hours dedicated specifically to the architectural sheet metal trade.
