Carey Peters is the Executive Director of the Construction Labor Research Council. CLRC is the nation’s foremost source of labor cost and related information on the unionized sector of the construction industry. It serves as a trusted resource for research and consulting on labor costs, market share, labor contract terms, safety, and associated topics. CLRC is supported by management associations whose member firms employ union construction craft workers.
During his tenure at CLRC, Carey has developed numerous new products that convey unique perspectives on labor costs and workforce issues while enhancing the company’s overall existing products and services.
Carey earned his doctoral degree in industrial/organizational psychology at the University of Tennessee and has a bachelor’s degree from Taylor University. He has extensive experience in a wide variety of research, consulting and data analysis projects, including research grants from the SSRI, NACAC, and APA. Carey has given presentations for The Conference Board and at numerous professional conferences, and he has taught research methodology and statistics courses to graduate students.
Before coming to CLRC, Carey spent 14 years with the Tennessee Valley Authority, the nation’s largest public power company. While there, he conducted extensive market studies on wages/salaries and benefits, led all compensation related negotiations with the construction trades and numerous other unions, and implemented a wide variety of human resources initiatives. On a number of occasions he was recognized for his efforts by being promoted to positions of increasing responsibility.
